    Default the law

i made a bookin last week and as i was driving out to the location , 10 mins before the appointment, to my shock, a garda car was parked outside the house. it was empty and it was obvious they were in talking to the 2 girls that were occupying it. my question is, what exactly is the law here? what if i had been in the house when the gardai called to the door? needless to say, i just drove on
worrying is just a bad use of the imagination

I guess I don't really need to say 'well done' for driving on, as it was the obvious thing to do!

To answer your question, the law in Ireland has been interpreted in such a way regarding prostitution/escorting as technically being legal, as long as it's under certain conditions. There have been many discuddions and threads on the forum which outline the laws about the business, so just have a look and you can have quick read yourself.

In a case like this, the ladies in question may be facing some serious trouble, as 2 or more ladies working out of the same location at the same time is technically considered to be a 'brothel' under current legislation, and thus is considered illegal. There has been a push by this website to have this law changed, as working in at least pairs makes the work at least moderately more safe for the ladies, and cuts down on predatory types from targeting ladies working alone.

As for what would've happened to you if you'd been in the house when the Gardai came up, I couldn't say for sure....
