    Although commercial flights have been grounded, VFR flights have not - if you know someone who own a light aircraft they might be willing to fly you there for a hefty fee

    They should be, but most ferries now arent taking footpassengers.
    Cant take the car because i intend flying back afterwards after the dust settles

    It would be an incredibly hefty fee I would say. The problem is that they can make the flight fine, but they gum up their engines and have to get serviced as soon as they land and that's big buckaroos. Dunno for a light aircraft, but on a 747 each engine costs €140,000 to remove and service..
    Helicopters are less affected though because they fly lower and a much different engine design.
