Janey mac I see there are loads more articles in the examiner today... LOL... It must be escort week One thing that bugs me, why do all these Ruhama and government minister types try to make out escorts are all drug addicts. Street prositutes maybe, but escorts don't take drugs anymore than any other social group in society.

There is a lot worse than that.

For example, the media coverage of a recent murder of an escort in England was disgraceful I think.

    E.g. http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/news/a...39;/article.do

I for one think it is WRONG that this poor lady's life has been talked about the way it has.

The tabloids have been full of juicy articles about who she apparently slept with in her life, and you might expect that from those guttersnipes as unfortunately they have a habbit of stooping to that level, but articles like the above from mainstream newspapers naming her daughter etc is pretty low in my opinion.

    Pat
I cant believe they named her daughter! I dont care if they are just doing their job, journalists are scumbags!

If the hassle in the north stopped what would all the party leaders do? Theyd have to fuckin work.

If all the hassle in the world stopped what would the papers write about?

If escorting was made legal and escorts were taxed ,wouild they still make the same bobs? Would you?

If escorting was made legal or say in an incredible turn of events ,what would Ruhama do? They would have to go and get jobs ,thats fuckin.

Going back to what i say all along .If someone is doing something strictly for money or prestige ,then at least have the balls or pussy to say that ,instead of pretending to be the everyhthing but the kitchen sink of saving mankind.

Just for the record ,any girls i knew from the street. 6 to be exact and dated three, only 3 use drugs and of that three only 2 use so called hardcore drugs like heroin. And if a person uses drugs its there choice and this is more bullshit again. To date i know of only 2 st girls from cork who are dead due to drug abuse and i think they would have died reagardless with sounding cruel.God rest them. The reason most girls on the st work on the st is that they dont trust the lack of control when working for someone else.

Take steroids. They are supposed to kill and but are they? Are thay any worse than abuse of drink? Hardly.

This hypocracy is like enjoying a delicous meal of a 14 week old fly encrusted Italian sausage , washed down by a gallon of warm tendering vomit. Its like trying to explain the Klu Klux Klan to a blackman.Give me a fuckin break.

Id rather die today with my Values than live forever with none,

    Hugs and Kisses,
    Westside.

On another note .i have never heard of an escort ,drugs or otherwise, drive down a dual carraigeway ,langers drunk in the wrong direction but if have heard of a gov memebr who has.

Glad I'm not the only one who thinks this is wrong. I nearly didn't post about this here, as I expect Caprice's loved ones don't need one grain more publicity than they have already got, but then I considered that a thread about it here was pretty insignificant in the greater scale of things, given it has been all over the national print and web press in the UK for days now already. I'm just so annoyed with journalists doing this. This is not an isolated incident. It keeps happening. I thought the situation was bad enough as it was, but not it seems working ladies kid's are fair game too, and I cannot understand for the life of me why any journalist feels it neccessary to name any working ladies kids. That poor child has enough on her plate without all her peers reading about her mum and her like this.

I just wanted to say that. People who take drugs dont always have a choice. If you come from a broken home, where the people around you are taking drugs, drooped out of school early have to work the streets in order to survive.. HOW can you tell say 15 or 16yr old girl not to do any of that some choice....

If that's directed at persons including me, I can tell you that what I do is all legal and I pay all my taxes.

The guy from sex.ie made some interesting points about ruhama a while ago
    http://www.sex.ie/2006/10/08/no-evid...-to-top-garda/

I don't think much of ruhama myself. I do think sex trafficking is a problem in the world today that none of us in this biz should ignore like it could never happen here but I don't see ruhama doing much to help. Its a shame because in some countries there are very good women's organisations working on these issues.

Good to see someone talking of their real experiences. If I didn't make it clear before it's been a while since I've been involved in the street scene in any way so I don't profess to be knowledgable on this issue. I only know that escorts are not the druggy crowd they are so often made out to be in the media.

Well - as I've said above... most reporting of prostitution is of the lazy "dog bites man" variety regurgitating preconcieved notions and accepted "facts" (ie - myths). We're all guilty of that to some degree when imagining what a job or lifestyle different to our own must be like, and this kind of reporting panders to that rather than trying to enlighten.

When it comes to womens groups etc... well you can't fault the intentions, but often they are as guilty as the media with perpetuating the same myths. While there are many vulnerable women/children etc... who are trafficked and exploited to say that this applies to ALL prostitutes/escorts/street walkers is really laughable.

No Dub Lad - they DO have a choice... that's not to say the pressures on many from that background aren't immense (peer pressure, boredom, fear, ignorance, poverty). That many succumb to that pressure is understandable but the choice still remains.

An american guy did a study on this once and interviewed people. On eof the crowd he interviewed were two sons who were abused and came from a broken family all because of an aggressive abusive father.

One of the sons turned out like his old man while the other the exact opposite. Both were asked the same question ,which each being unaware of the other also being asked. The question was how did you end up the way you did and guess what???? They both said the exact same thing.

How else could i have turned out to be with a father like that.

    Go figure.

The only two things in this life that you have no choice about are usually the fact that you are born and the fact that you die.Ok maybe some little things.

You cant control some things that happen but you can control 100% your reaction to them.
