Take the US. Why cant we celebrate Independence day or thanks given so? I know that there are lots of Irish abroad but its a national holiday there isnt it?
Sincerely,
Westside.

No, it's not. Most of the Irish and Irish-Americans take the day off though, and arrangements are made to shut down the route of the parade etc, but otherwise it's a normal working day for the rest of the US.
I was at the St. Patrick's Day parade in New York a couple of years ago. It was spectacular and all, and I got talking to this cop who was standing near me who reckoned his grandad had come over on a coffin ship from Kerry or somewhere. Then, this Asian crosses the road to get to the other side - he was dressed in his suit and was carrying a briefcase. The cop bellowed at him in this big ass thick Noo Yawk accent: "Hey buddy! This might be a normal day fo you guys but it ain't for us Irish!!!"
Everyone likes the Irish that's why. Not everyone likes Americans so they don't celebrate it with them. Theres a lot of people who claim to been Irish on St Paddies Day.
Help Keyla in her fight with cancer. Every little helps.
It could happen to any of us.
