I think it's a very personal judgment call on whether to participate in the scheme or not but if you do it's so you can spread a little bit of light in a dark world and put whatever happened aside. I.e. He's been convicted of something that society finds horrendous and his punishment is his loss of freedom. But you don't know what, whether he has genuine remorse, or
what circumstances in his life led to this mistake.

I don't think there's anything inherently wrong in spreading a little light in what can be a dark world if you choose. It's certainly not condoning his actions.

And let's bear in mind that 100% of the men posting here would be guilty of a sexual offence under Irish law. Our high horses are falabellas.
Sexual offenders : it’s not a one off ‘mistake’ .

Do I Care “what circumstances” lead to such horrific crime ?

    No . I don’t .

Look at the state of State of California : attitudes such as here in your post has lead to

criminals being coddled , there is rampant unprovoked random violence of All sorts against

innocent everyday people - because we have to have Compassion , and jeez “what circumstance

of this “poor man” lead to him committing such awful things” .

Few months ago I watched a news report : a young woman was attacked in middle of night

in her own home : she woke to a man straddling her and proceeded to attack and maul her

in the most vicious insensible brutal way .

The female reporter tried being as gentle as she could , I was shocked that the victim would even

give an interview - she recounted the horrors of the event , clearly still in shock and horribly traumatized .

But lo and behold , within a moment of recounting her ordeal she switched to “what terrible life

this man must’ve had to commit such atrocity” . She nearly was torn apart yet the brainwashing of

‘Compassion for criminals’ so strong it manifests itself even in that very moment .

    I ain’t got time for that .

I do Not care what life he had . I care that the perpetrator is hurting innocent victims : women ,

children of whatever age ; in whatever setting - opportunistic or premeditated .

No room in society for predators .

Yes , I feel compassion for ones who were themselves abused and so lead to them being abusers .

I have compassion for the suffering they been through . I have no compassion for their own crime .

Break the chain of violence : on a first offense , intense targeted counseling and All social services

should be made available and Mandatory to try to steer that former victim / now offender away

from repeating and perpetuating the violence that they themselves suffered .

Consequent offenses : no more compassion .
I do what I want. I cannot do otherwise.
