I moved house almost three years ago buying a house with a large back garden that had planning permission for another 1 floor bungalow on it. Was the main reason for this particular house. The house was / is a bit of a fixer upper as they say but the garden was spectacular. The woman we bought off did nothing but look after it. . I’ve done my best and have put a lot of time into it but it is nit what it was although still pretty nice. The flowers are coming out now and the only flowers that have really thrived are roses in every colour. So roses for me.

I have three apple trees , a pear tree and strawberries. No partridge or leaping lords. I grow my own “herbals” and tried planting some interesting South American vines that did not survive but I will try again in June. It has given me so much pleasure that my intentions of paving it over and throwing down yet more concrete are receding into the distance. It’s definitely an age thing as even 5 years ago the idea to willingly potter around the garden would have been baffling.

There is a Chinese lady I know who is very into her flowers and indeed knows a lot about cooking wild flowers and plants who I once showed pictures of the garden to and I’m certain one of the main reasons she likes seeing me is checking out what is happening in the garden. A fox appeared a while back (a regular visitor) and she asked was I going to trap and eat it.

I've never considered trapping and eating the foxes who dip in and out of my garden!
Love gardening and gardens. My favourite plant is a massive paper plant I have in a big Ceramic pot, love that thing.
