As it continued it seemed to get stranger and stranger the stuff that was being targeted to the point that it was nearly a parody of itself and in general people are sick of so called trigger warnings and micro aggressions and the rest of the guff. I feel the movement became emboldened by early successes and then over-reached to the point that it lost the plot completely and now there's way less support and far more eye rolling.
Yup, they plural went and ruined it for everyone.

Sarah, definitely she/her/lover of penises, but would kinda like to have one sometimes so I could rub it up the back of men's thighs...best feeling in the world 👌🏼

It would be far better for the world if woke went permanently to sleep

Before COVID, people were generally comfortable in their lives so they tolerated a lot of shit they shouldn't have cos they just wanted a quiet life. Then COVID came along and, all of a sudden, a quiet life became impossible. You had to do and say everything you were told to do and say, or your life would be turned upside-down. COVID shook a lot of people out of their apathy, the silent majority are starting to speak up now and "woke" is not (and never was) welcome.

Also doesn't help that inflation, energy costs, rents, grocery costs, are all spiraling out of control; people stop giving a toss about pronouns and cultural appropriation when they can barely afford to live.

At it's most basic level was "woke" not just about not being a cunt to others? Which surely isn't a bad thing.

Was it? Or was it just towards certain groups? It seemed pretty open day to be a c*nt to people with religious belief for example. It also seemed pretty religious itself in asserting truths that were untestable and being utter c*nts to anyone who didn't accept those untestable tenants of faith.

TLDR - skip to the line of asterisks for summary.

Woke-ism generally seems to be all for being a c*nt to white people too.
Homeless white person? Well f*** you, you have privilege, now pay reparations to black people who aren't even descended from US slaves, never mind that your ancestors never owned slaves or probably even were slaves themselves.
    For example: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bahar_Mustafa_race_row
and yes, I've had co-workers actually say this BS that "only White people can be racist" (and also yes, when typing they specifically capitalize the words "white" and "black" because they consider it to be defining of your entire world view instead of just an simple adjective).

Oh, and mentioning that Irish were kidnapped to be used as slaves by the British (see Cromwell) or the slave raiding on Baltimore by Barbary pirates is "white supremacist conspiracy theories". The fact that the vast majority of black slaves were in fact sold to Europeans by other African tribes, i.e. blacks, is also condemned as such.
And these are the people known for spouting "you need to educate yourself".

Oh, and definitely don't bring up that on a global scale whites are in fact the minority at <10%, they just happen to be the majority in Europe and the US (where this idiocy has taken root). The DEI head in my workplace had a hilarious response of complete befuddlement when they were asked whether, given they were demanding POC quotas in the US, EU and Canadian offices, would there also be quotas for white people in our APAC, LATAM and African offices, as they put so little thought into their world view and solutions they couldn't even contemplate that a world exists beyond their little neighbourhood.
Same problem is now being seen with the new Assassin's Creed game, a game about stealth and passing through crowds unnoticed, set in Japan so you'd expect a Japanese main character, just as the previous games had a main character aligned with the demographics of their settings, but nope, we have to have black representation even in historical Japan so they dug up one unique example of a black man there and decided to make him the main assassin you play as, would you blame the Japanese for being upset that their culture has been given a back seat to the feelings of African Americans? But yet again the woke will only claim any complaints are just "racist".

Also don't bring up the weird paradox that people from Latin America are POC, even the actually white ones, but those from around the Mediterranean are white, even when they are more sallow skinned, or that Megan Markle is "black" when she's paler than many of those same Mediterranean "whites". Questioning doctrine will not be tolerated!!!!
But then you also shouldn't mention how the "woke" seem to generally be the first to throw around racial slurs when a POC steps out of line and says anything that deviates from woke doctrine, e.g. Thomas Sowell, Candace Owens, John McWhorter, Glenn Loury, Coleman Hughes, etc....
Right now there's a woman in the UK being prosecuted for parading with a sign referring to Sunak and Braverman as a racial slur yet that was fine to the many "woke" she was marching beside because she supported the current woke cause and they don't like POC that dare lean right. How long do you think it would have been before her sign was stolen/destroyed and she was threatened with violence if she'd been holding a sign mocking Saint George Floyd?
*Personally I'm pro-free-speech (it lets idiots expose themselves) but I'm deeply opposed to hypocrisy and it seems to be a never-ending flood from the woke.

As regards religion: being "woke" typically means putting down the Christians and Jews is fine, often even encouraged ("because they have power"), but don't you dare speak ill of the Muslims, because they're generally brown and therefore a "persecuted group". They are all in favour of Islamic rule and Sharia, never mind the clear issues when it comes to the rights of women and gays in Islamic society, or the continuing slave trade in Islamic regions of Africa (because that's only bad when white people do it).

    ******************************************************************************** ***************************
Woke-ism can essentially be boiled down to assholes demanding power and authority simply on the basis of what they are (or sometimes only claim to be, see: "queer", neo-pronouns, no-effort "trans" and race-switching), rather than any actual merit or effort on their part, largely just so they can bully others, the product of a generation of participation awards. Long gone are the days where it is just about acceptance, instead you must provide validation and even nurture the person's world view.
It is social media nurtured narcissism enabled by people too feeble minded to think through the consequences of all the demands that are being foisted upon the rest of us. This is also why fat positivity has become such a big thing in spite of most of it's activists strangely dying in their late 30's and early 40's, because expecting people to make an effort and better themselves is now "hatespeech", who cares that people who should still be alive today died needlessly. There's a vast difference between "don't be mean" and "doctors mentioning my morbid obesity during checkups is triggering, I demand that they be sanctioned for it".

How can a movement be a good thing when it claims to be for ending discrimination yet seems to be lead by the most bigoted people, those who think that your skin, sexuality, gender, etc... defines how you think (don't dare step outside that box), your moral worth and whether or not you are deserving of anything in life, e.g. a promotion, government subsidy, etc...?
