I find the casual use of a slur against mentally handicapped people here... word beginning with r... in some fo the recent posts to be deplorable.
My view is that the moderators should be dealing with it.
If other slurs about other minorities were being thrown around similarly I think there would be a lot of jumping up and down and wailing and screaming.
Have some respect ffs.
The r word is unacceptable language to us even on a forum for grown ups etc etc

Thank you for pointing this out. It is something close to my heart as I have a "r****d" in my family tree as the two "gentlemen" might say. I hadn't been following the thread and went back to see who had posted. I wish I hadn't. Still progress I suppose as I don't see "n@@@er" being thrown around anywhere.

I feel we've gone full circle here, people were upset about the thread referring to some Irish men for their poor hygiene and taking it as a slur against all Irish men, now people are upset that a post targeting a specific individual is a slur against all people with a condition.
