Education at university level is all just a big money-making machine nowadays. For the majority of subjects learning from books vastly outperforms learning from lectures... there's no point in having lectures when books are so much better.

If they really want people to be "educated", why not have standardized exams every year that everyone can take, like the leaving certificate but for lots of other subjects? Then if you pass 40 certificates you're awarded a degree? The information/knowledge could be freely available over the internet or even sent out in the post. The answer is obviously money. Billions of euro of it.

The whole thing is like a big pyramid scheme. You pay the money to get in (in Ireland's case it's more like the taxpayers' money), you do crap you wouldn't normally do if you just wanted to learn things to get by, and then you get out and it's payback time for you. The employers pick people with the degrees because those were the people who would have been motivated in the first place and sensible enough to go into the pyramid scheme, it's all a big vicious self-propagating circle and the taxpayer is footing the bill. All nothing but an elitist self-validating, self-grooming, social circle.

The truth is most doctors are uneducated fools. If they really want to have the merits I would call being "educated", they should read up a lot more on nature and peoples and evolution and try to understand as much as they can about the world. And forget all that stupid bullshit they learned about pharmaceuticals.

There's no thinking involved in a medical degree, just learning off. Most doctors these days are no more educated than the poor muslim children you see on tv sometimes shaking their head back and forth trying to learn the Qu'ran word-for-word, except instead of the Qu'ran it's Gray' Anatomy.

Being forced or pushed into studying is the same as being pushed or forced into prostitution. They're both taking away your freedom. Maybe there are good things to come from education, but let's not confuse the possible payout at the end of the pyramid scheme with what you have to do for it.

And while I'm at it, I believe the vast majority of jobs are pretty useless for humanity as a whole as well. Escorting is one thing that is definitely extremely useful. Farming is another thing that is extremely useful, we couldn't survive without it. And look at the shit pay the farmers receive then because they're not part of the elite intellectual prestigious social circle. It's all bullshit.

The government is always trying "create jobs". What humanity should be trying to do is REDUCE the amount of work we have to do. That's what progress is supposed to be isn't it? The last thing we want is another load of stupid jobs that do NOTHING for anyone and are of no net value to humans. Few jobs are real producers in this world.

Farmers' land is being taken away bit-by-bit by force to build roads and sewage systems etc. This is because of the "compulsory land grab" orders the government can enact if a judge decides it's for the "common good" to do so. The common good? They wouldn't know the "common good" if it came over and hit them over the fucking head!

Personally I don't care too much about "eternal students", they're not hurting anyone are they? Not like bankers, judges, officials etc. try their best to hurt farmers, escorts, people in manual work, almost anyone who actually PRODUCES anything for the world.

    /end rant

in fact i know of a guy (he has died since) but in his EIGHTIES was handgliding. I met him at Wilton Shopping centre once and he was dressed in his pajamas and a dressing gown. Apparently he sneaked out of the hospital to go shopping. This guy had a jest for living that i have never seen on another human being. He was always thinking ahead ,always doing, never got stale and made the most out of everything even when sick. He died well into his nineties which was along time after i met him that day.

I love to give his name and the things he did but i cant obviously.

    Westside.

PS there is a saying died at 30 ,buried at 70. This is applicable to a lot of ppl.
