Some guys enjoy the thrill of the chase, and most who do go out in the hope they might pull a woman. “Ordinary” might not be the ideal choice of word but I think it’s plain to see he meant a woman out for the night who wasn’t an escort on duty, so to speak, An off duty escort or off duty teacher or off duty police officer for example.
