Thread: Dark Web

  1. Default Dark Web

Does anyone know of other browser's other than Duckduckgo and what's on the Play Store to access the Dark Web.

I'm using Tor Orbit also. I don't know if this makes a difference but I'm using a Samsung tablet, android.

I often wondered how to get on to the dark Web then thought to myself, what can I get on there that I can't get on the normal Web.

Dark Web just sounds like illegal/ sick content imo.

Curiosity always gets me about the dark web. Then I go research the effort, then I don’t even know what I want out of it but just want to float but if I’m being honest… it’s prob not a place you should hang out unless you’ve a specific reason to be on it

there is a faq section on E-I explaining TOR browser with provided onion url.
    https://www.escort-ireland.com/help/...y/punters.html

Unfortunately that url do not work for me when tried on tor, could be an old one:

Just be careful if you do go on the dark Web using your network ....buy a sim card router and stay away from using your wifi.

Buy a old laptop do not use your current email or passwords on it.use fake details.

It's risky to use a phone or tablet to browse the dark Web.

The dark web is no more dangerous, its basically the same. If you go visiting a shady site, its likely full of malware.

The real thing to note is that TOR based systems are not an alternative to VPN. TOR/Onion Routing is really just an additional security layer and a special network for that content. You should still use a VPN while also using a TOR network, and obviously you want to use a VPN that is truly about security/safety like Mullvad.

Also note, using hte Darkweb to do illegal things does not mitigate your risk of getting caught, at the end of the day, there are still agencies tracking, honeypots, transaction methods, compromised nodes, etc.

If you are going onto TOR/Onion websites, really be careful with what you do there and how you pay, even most cryptos these days are able to be tracked back to users. The most common for "Dark Web" activity is going to be monero. Also be careful how you manage your wallet, because again, thats another way you can be tracked, if you use an exchange's wallet.

One of the other ways people are commonly caught is because, hey, you need to turn that monero into cash to really make it worth it (its easy to buy crypto with secure means, but cashing out is harder), and that can be a lot harder without strategy.

Honestly, DarkWeb is a bit unnecessary. Unless you are hoping to find hard drugs (which is not smart in a place like Ireland, its harder here) or other highly illegal activities, its just not worth the effort. I mean, look at this website... Its not on the dark web and it works fine. The main thing to worry about here is if the website is breached and IP logs/emails are leaked and that can be used (thus why you should VPN / TOR here). But theres plenty on the regular web you can use to get what you want without resorting to the "Dark Web"
