So with the profiles that say "don't text," just call, and i call but there's no answer... how many times do you call? How long do you wait? I haven't had to make these decisions since the 90s!

I let it ring for 4-5 seconds. Any longer and the lady is probably busy.
I tend to ring just before the 1/2 hour, 28 minutes past or 58 minutes. Logic is that if meeting started on the hour or half hour then the next meet hasn’t started and the current one has concluded .

Much handier to go for someone who prefers texts or WhatsApp. They can reply when it suits them. Anyway I can't be ringing escorts and the whole office listening to me 😆

Agree, initial contact via WhatsApp message or PM makes it less awkward, at least for me. Pity that some beauties here do not have WhatsApp on their phones.
That small app somehow gives me more confident in leaving less footprint, with their end to end encryption, which gsm calls/txt's lacks.

Ring, then try 20 mins later. Still no answer send a quick text, 1 final ring then move on.
A lot depends on how much time you have to kill.

Although I do prefer the WhatsApp route these days, it's esp handy for those that don't list their "rates". Fair enough with the extras being negotiated but it would be nice to know the base rate before making contact.

I'd phone twice , if they don't answer send a text . If there's no response then move on .

Whatever you do don't ring before 10 in the morning or 9 in the evening.

I am one of the girls who prefers take appointments by call, the reason is you can hear how the guy sounds, if he is drunk or if is someone you want avoid, it’s easier to see the attitude of the person by call, how polite he sounds or if is a rude guy.
When someone call me and I can’t answer, I always reply with a message saying I can’t answer right now but you can call me back in xx minutes.
Some guys to book an appointment, instead of send a full message saying Hello, my name is Xxx, I would like to book an appointment for xx minutes at xx time if you are available, most of them send “ Hey”, “Hi” and nothing more.
Of course sometimes the first contact by WhatsApp or text is handy, most of the girls prefer texts due language barrier, what’s perfectly fine, but I personally will always prefer hear the voice in the other side of the line to confirm the appointment.
