If you look under "Latest Reputation Received" in "settings" someone has probably given you reputation.


To the right of the "thanks" button and before the triangular "report this post" button is a star. Click this and you can give positive (green) or negative (red) reputation.

How do you know such things? You've only been here a month... 🙃

Any reputation given, positive, negative or neutral will trigger a notification.
Thanked post won't trigger a notification

I did once get clarification from Sofia about the grey/neutral rep. If a user has no rep or negative rep themselves then any rep they give, positive or negative, will show up as grey for the recipient.

I do agree with Michelle too, using the rep system to anonymously "punish" someone over a difference of opinion seems a rather weak minded tactic. Personally, I always prefer to have those discussions in the open forum (or even in PM for more delicate matters) where there is ample room for discourse. But I'm typically not a big fan of censorship or trying to stifle voices I may not agree with...

wouldn't give it in any attn. Rooney, you be one of the decent folks about the boards
in a v. short space of time they have become awash with W-U-M / vile / multi - profile accs,
throwing their dark, sordid ideology about, since the comp./mods changed approach a while back

guess it's why most of the decent folk have stopped or post round only now or again

When I clicked on the community tab today it shows I have a notification, like I've received a message in my inbox, but I have no new messages in my inbox.
The notification is now gone but I have no idea what it was for, anyone know what it might have been?

I'm here a few years but still figuring out things on this site!

I would suggest checking your PM inbox again
this has happened to me before were I see the PM icon and when I go to inbox there's nothing there but sometimes the PM is just pending and hasn't actually arrived, if that makes any sense 🤔

Top one is rep AF. She has given positive rep to rooney. They show up in the same place. Thats how rooney has missed what the notification was as a few thanks have pushed it out.

Not the likes, she sent him an anon rep message "Happy Easter..." (Top "latest rep given").
No notification for the "thanks" but all anon rep will generate a notification like a PM.
