If people are worried about IP addresses being stored by e-i, they should look at the related articles below the article you quoted instead of using the article itself. Changing the IP address on your computer doesn't do anything, because it is the public IP address that is being stored by a website like e-i. To make a change to this, you would need to change the IP address on the WAN side of your modem/router. Easiest way to make a change would be using a proxyserver like Hide My Ass! Free Proxy and Privacy Tools - Surf The Web Anonymously or http://proxywebsite.us. You can also change the WAN IP address and Mac address on your router/modem, but it is not as easy as using one of the above proxyservers.
