I think Ireland and UK are outliers with the dates. I bought flowers to an Asian lady friend who was wondering what they were for. When I told her she laughed and said it was 12th May . When in Rome I thought to myself but she was happy enough 😁.
The most important woman for most Irishmen is their mammy. Mines passed away also but even when I worked outside Ireland for a good few years flowers and a phone call were essential on the day. I wouldn’t think that’s unusual either .

I always thought may was an american thing .
Guess we are the odd ones on this occasion.
Either way happy mothers day to those celebrating.
My mother was one of the strongest people i knew, she would be proud of me right now.

And as always she gets a bunch of flowers for the grave. Not sure if I ever bought her flowers when she was alive- she would have had a canary about spending money on a bunch of flowers when you've already daffodils in the garden !
Gone many many years now. And I still miss her.
