If you are loking for this topic to be discussed in a logical, intelligent manner Pat I'm afraid Ireland is not ready for it.
Sometimes it's good to raise a controversial topic in order for society to thrash it out & hopefully get some empathetic media folks behind it. I really can't see any main-stream media people sticking their heads above for this one, even if they agree. I'm also sure there are some politicians who empathise but they would be afraid also to take a solo run.
Until the generation who fear the Cathoilc Church & the righteously indignant conservatives who prefer keeping their heads firmly in the sand die out then this discussion will never happen.
A bit like drug prohibition, the laws on the sex industry will never reflect the realities on the ground but the moral high-ground maintained by what is becoming increasingly a minority.
Politicians are so obviously still in fear of the church & it's minions. It might be 10 - 20 yrs before the demographics allow an intelligent debate on sex workers & their clientelle.
