Do you remember many years ago we were told that oil was going to 'run out' before the end of the 80's, then the hole in the Ozone layer was going to burn us to a crisp, then the Polar icecaps were melting and Ireland was going to be submerged under water, then the rain forests were being cut down and we were going to run out of oxygen .... and now the current 'menu special' CARBON !!! The earth has always been changed by the plant and animal life on it. We change it, there is no doubt. We are now so influential that we risk changing it in a way that is harmful to us. We cannot wear the earth out, it certainly will be here when we are not.

Erm nobody is claiming we will wear the planet out. It's. Quite clear the planet will be here long after humans are gone. But what we are doing advancing our own extinction as a species by making the planet uninhabitable for us anymore. Seriously as a previous commenter said pick up a book you might actually learn something.
