Two SIM cards sounds safe, but there are many potential pitfalls, apart from the obvious one of forgetting to switch back.
I wrote apps for phones a few years back - several different operating systems - and even with that background I would not be confident of anticipating all the "gotchas". You only need to screw up once.

No one asks I get a vodaphone one every 12 months or so. I don’t top up enough and get disconnected. Just tell them you’re selling something on done deal if anyone asks.
