Now there's a sensible response and I would add in the extra millions wasted translating EU documents, debates etc into Irish and half the time the government can't even provide sufficient translators. What kind of message does that send out to our fellow europeans!

when i was in school if i got one word wrong i got a belt for it. Where the hell was i going to learn Irish from? My father left school and worked very young, the mother was dead. I didnt have anyone to teach it to me only the teachers who beat me for getting something that i was trying to learn wrong. Funny thing is it didnt happen in any other sybject only Irish.I wasnt alone. Others had it too.

When i was in school you got your head kicked in if you made mistakes in Irish unless you were froman Irish speaking family, played gaa or from a religous family. I dont fall under any of them, thank god.

So how can i take pride in something that caused me such hardship. By the way one of those evil cunts died lately. Horay, celebrations long into the night at Westville.

How about having to say "Anseo!" at roll-call every morning, and getting scared into being nice when the "cigire" came calling!!

they were arseholes no matter what but Irish gave them more opportunities to display their talent for arseholism.
