This is the actual legislation:

7A. (1) A person who pays, gives, offers or promises to pay or give a person (including a prostitute) money or any other form of remuneration or consideration for the purpose of engaging in sexual activity with a prostitute shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on summary conviction—

(a) in the case of a first offence, to a class E fine, and

(b) in the case of a second or subsequent offence, to a class D fine.

(2) In this section ‘sexual activity’ means any activity where a reasonable person would consider that—

(a) whatever its circumstances or the purpose of any person in relation to it, the activity is because of its nature sexual, or

(b) because of its nature the activity may be sexual and because of its circumstances or the purposes of any person in relation to it (or both) the activity is sexual.”,


So the offence is paying, giving, offering, Promising.

If an apartment is raided by Gardai for brothel keeping yes they can seize the ladies phone or they can sieze the phone of a client found there on the property. Clients bad luck for risking going to an apartment where more that one lady was working from, he is now caught up in a brother keeping investigation.

But What I could see happening a lot from cases I was reading in local papers was it appears that Gardaí were finding where an independent escort was working from then watching the apartment and stopping her clients coming out. The client was then admitting to seeing an escort that’s how the prosecution was coming about.

The operation you’re talking about was a brothel keeping/human trafficking operation. If Clients are risking going to brothels well then tough, That doesn’t concern me.

What concerns me is the legislation this article is referring to and is the offence of paying for sex - brothel keeping and any client found on a premises during a raid is a seperate matter. My apartment won’t ever be getting raided for brothel keeping and therefore Gardai won’t ever have a power to sieze my work phone.

There are hotels that escorts simply wont visit as too much hassle, some are just kicked out for trying to make a few bob and guards are called, they're just idiots the operations manager and the funny thing is that one these daft hotels is now closing to accommodate immigrants

That's at the discretion of the cop. They could be called by a hotel manager, accuse you of operating a brothel in the hotel based on the number of men coming and going - especially if you are doing due work. Under such an accusation, farewell phone.
