Don't forget that Christine Lagarde (European Central Bank President) was caught on a video call with a guy impersonating Zelensky and she clearly stated that control was a major part of why they want to introduce CBDCs. This is not some coincidence or reaction, it is a plan years in the making.

Of course it’s about control, control of tax avoidance, the black economy, of how we spend, of what we buy, control of the masses in general.

People will be a lot easier to police if one click of a keyboard can wipe them out financially.

The legislation that’s being brought in will make cash legal tender.. something the shops.. banks and everyone else will have to comply with…

I visited someone in Ballsbridge a fortnight ago. I turned up late as I couldn’t find a working cash machine. In Dublin 4.

Last week around 11pm in Dublin 1 I ended up having to get cash back from two seperate well known late night chains because I couldn’t get a working ATM.

I’ve yet to meet an Asian lady who takes Revolut although I know 1 who had a bank account and would take payment that way.

ATMs are a dying breed. The demise of cash is not a good thing.

same, the only problem I've ever had with ATM's is being unable to lodge money in them, sometimes I get a pile of tenners which isn't really a problem either.

most of the issues described could be solved with a bit of forward planning, get the fee sorted a day ahead of time.

I don't know about the rest of you but I get dumber the closer i get to a meet, think its the blood rushing away from my head....the one on my shoulders that is.

For practically everything else (apart from a local chipper & chinese I go to, who insist on on cash only), I'd be sticking with card/contactless payments.... but when it comes to meeting escorts I, for one, certainly hope that access to cash (ATMs, cash back in shops, etc.) doesn't become more difficult. Just as many of the ladies don't use their 'real' names for obvious reasons, I'm sure most of us punters don't either - and don't want a digital paper trail of our activities!

Cool Bill to protect role of cash in economy

    https://www.lawsociety.ie/gazette/to...t-role-of-cash
23 January 2023 - Law Society of Ireland Gazette

The Government has published the general scheme of a bill aimed at protecting the role of cash in the Irish financial system.

The Access to Cash Bill stems from a recommendation made by the Retail Banking Review, published in November 2022.

The review highlighted the role of cash in ensuring that people did not experience financial exclusion, and as a safety net in the event of electronic banking or the payments infrastructure being hit by outages or cyber-attacks.

    ‘Important’ role
The Minister for Finance Minister McGrath said that the move to a more digitalised banking model, along with the costs involved in handling cash, had incentivised the traditional banks to move away from cash.

He added, however, that it was important to protect its role in Irish society and the economy in the future.

The legislation will, for the first time, allow the Central Bank to regulate ATMs, with the aim of improving operational standards and ensuring good customer service.

    Payments strategy
It provides the Central Bank with regulation-making powers on issues such as reporting, setting service standards, and other matters such as denomination stocking.

“In the absence of a legislative intervention, it is likely that over time we would see more and more ATMs removed from communities across the country, and I do not want to see this happen,” the minister stated.

The bill will also give the Central Bank the responsibility and powers to protect the resilience of the cash system – including the authorisation and supervision of cash-in-transit firms.

The proposed legislation comes as the Department of Finance is in the process of developing a national-payments strategy that will look at the acceptance of cash in the payments system.
