That piece by Louise McBride had me falling around laughing. Firstly, the fact that it appeared in the business section rather than in the main paper together with news/crime reporting was pretty funny.
Secondly, the story is based on a comparison of the number of prostitution offences for 2009 compared to 2008 as supplied by the CSO. As an example, the number of prostitution offences in Dublin North Central (D 1 & 7) dropped from 70 in 2008 to 39 in 2009. What percentage of actual punts would that work out for those years?.....statistically insignificant in my opinion. It might just prove that the Garda Authorities in Limerick and Cork came under more local pressure to do something about this than was the case in Dublin.

But fair play to the Sunday Independent for taking a few figures from the CSO and extrapolating that much information out of them........fills a few column inches.

Thanks for all the tips but my trip to Cork has taken a bit longer than expected to come through.

Definitely heading there this week-end so all recommendations appreciated.

    Thanks.

No offence intended with the which area to avoid quote.
