I know Charles Darwin did and so did Einstein. I've read large portions of On the Origin of Species and The Descent of Man as well as the short Charles Darwin autobiography, so I know very well he married his cousin when she was about 14.

Even first cousin marrying is not that detrimental to a lineage if it only occurs a few times. The problem is if occurs over and over. If every single person marries their fourth cousin for generation after generation that is not inbreeding, no inbreeding occurs there. Hybridization can often be much worse than light interbreeding (such as first cousins).

The way it occurs is by them all having common ancestors. People with blue eyes are all thought of have a common ancestors. Your maternal and paternal common ancestors can also be found.

Again, AlecHoran, I already talked about northern Brazil and southern Brazil. If you said that "northern Brazil and southern Brazil are all the same people", do you think I would say "a polite way of saying more inbred"??? No of course I wouldn't because it doesn't even make sense . First of all, they're not inbred. Secondly, even if they WERE "inbred", more inbred than WHAT?! If you say "more <adjective>" you're comparing it to something else. I have no idea what you're trying to compare it to. So I'm sorry if I sound a little testy but you're making some weird allegations based on nonsensical and 100% false scientific extrapolations which could really be seen as offensive, even if you were just trying to make a light-hearted comment or whatever you were trying to do.

Given the amount of population movements, forced or otherwise, plus the number of wars across the European continent, and the ensuing pillage and rape, I think that the notion of genetic national purity in any country is a figment of the imagination. All you can point to is general or typical physiological differences between groups such as Slavs, Latins, Germanic peoples etc. But even here, no group will be homogenous, with differences within many of the larger countries.

The biggest joke has to be the Nazi doctrine of a blond Nordic/Germanic arian master race.....Hitler himself did'nt even quality under those criteria.

There are some good Hungarians. I visited one of them, now retired, who was listed as Czech. I've also visited some very good Czech escorts, listed variously as Slovak, Latvian and yes, Herzegovinian. And, strangely enough, one Czech who was listed as Czech.

One thing to keep in mind is that there are many escorts who could quite legitimately claim more than one nationality.

How do you know you did not miss the really important bits? That book is not exactly one you can graze like the Guinness book of records.

On the Origin of Species I knew was going to be a bit hard to get through from the start, but still really interesting and informative, then I got kind of bored a little over half the way through. I'll probably finish it at a later stage, although sometimes you get the feeling he is repeating himself a fair bit.

I got Descent of Man afterwards after browsing in a bookstore and I think it's much better. However there are really two parts to it, one about human beings and one about sexual selection, the sexual selection bit I found boring so I didn't read much of that yet.

AlecHoran, I'm actually glad that you brought this up. But if you look back I said nothing about "purity" or anything like that. So don't accuse me of being racist or anything... What you MIGHT have been getting at from your "inbreeding" is from the idea some people say sometimes that the vast majority of diversity is all located in Africa. And that's true, because only the L3-Haplotype came out of Africa... EVERYONE who is not in Africa is more related to each other than they are to Africans (unless they interbred with Africans again which they did a lot in the US)...



I said they are basically all the same people genetically, although they can have far more different environments and that's what makes them different as people. Of course your environment can have a huge effect... I am just saying they're the same animal as are many Irish people.



There is a lot of confusing factors though such as how all blue-eyed people are thought to have the same 10,000 year old ancestor.

Personally I think that even Irish people and eastern europeans can look very much the same (not always, just sometimes). They could be my Irish neighbour and I wouldn't find it strange.
