A friend mine lives in a suburb of Dublin.

Everyone in his area has been getting in their mail box a printed page showing a young woman who is advertising on another site as an escort. This page shows a picture of her and gives her name, her phone number, address and what she offers in her advert.

Embarrassing for the poor girl and in my opinion the older woman putting this information in the door of neighbours is completely out of order. This young escort is operating behind closed doors and it’s none of her business what she is doing.

I think there is a law against this. I have heard adverts on the radio about men putting up private pictures of girlfriends on the Internet. I am not sufficiently familiar with related laws but if I could think of something to complain about I would make a complaint to the Gardai about this appalling mail shot.

Cant think of a law being broken here. The girl has publicly advertised and the nutjob is just distributing those ads. A Court Injuction against her could be a solution. Perhaps some of the Barristers or Judges on this site could give their opinion?

Steady on Jenny, just giving my opinion, absolutely certain this doesn't breach any 'Hate Laws'. Very doubtful too if it constitues harassment. I don't agree with it but sometimes the law is inadequate. There are people screaming hate messages at protests daily and hardly a prosecution arising from that. A bit unfair to say I'm talking bull, I'm giving my views. How is a Court Injunction bull? You breach that and you pay the price, look at Enoch Burke incarcerated now for months. If somebody is eventially charged here that would be brilliant and I'd love to know what Act is breached. I fully understand where you are coming from Jenny, all I'm doing is suggesting that, unfortunately, there is no actual law to deal with it.

Many years ago I lived in the UK and got a flyer in my mailbox to say that two ladies were working on the top floor. Being a punter virgin at the time I can safely say that my impression was that it would be attracting thuggish men to the block, and possibly be a danger to other residents - especially women living in the block.

I was also the secretary of the residents association at the time (yes, I am very dull) and one of the other members - a south east asian doctor lady - said that one had called over to borrow some sugar or something and that the girls seemed all very nice. Not very Pretty Woman or Taxi.

Anyway, point being - people are afraid of punters and other men they assume are around sex workers.

Fair point re GDPR. However the Guards don't deal with that, they'll be quick to send you off to the Data Protection Commissioner. Is there even a power of arrest for that? Could somebody play her at her own game, put her personal info in letterboxes

If you read my reply on this thread I stated the facts not opinions, there are several laws in place that the perpetrator here has broken, and they are just the laws that I am aware of I am sure there is probably more, is this website not over 18s? Is it not illegal to share Intimate images without consent? Is it not illegal to potentially expose minors these intimate images?

Let’s start here. Is there not a warning sing When you log onto the site, stating that it is an over 18s only site and you must be over 18 to continue? Yes, of course there is. Did these people who receives these leaflets in their doorway go seeking adult only information? No they did not, the information they received was unsolicited.

sharing or threatening to share intimate imagwithout consent is a criminal offence under the Harassment, Harmful Communications and related Offences Act 2020.

There is also Tort law in this country (Meaning that the victim can bring the perpetrator to civil court as opposed to the district court) For the severe emotional distress and humiliation that has been perpetrated upon her in an Extreme manner, There is also a keyword in this piece of legislation which is there a civil court in Ireland Defendant acted intentionally or recklessly; and

Is this woman not being discriminated against due to her legal occupation in the privacy of her own home? Is she not entitled to privacy in her own home?

There is an act in this country called the prohibition of incitement to hatred act, is what this evil woman has done not incitement to hatred?

Into 2019 a new Piece of legislation was brought in called the harassment, harmful communications, and
And harmful communications act Which makes the distribution of unsolicited sexual images illegal, they were even adds on the television when this new law was brought in.

The Irish constitution itself, I’m not even going to expect you to understand what that is, the data protection act, and the criminal law (sexual offences) Act Protect a persons right to privacy in their own home.

The child trafficking and pornography act which also covers criminal sexual offences makes it illegal to expose minors to explicit material. (A child could have picked up one of these leaflets that were put through the door)

The well-known GDPR act protects a person from having their personal information shares without permission.

The victims who received these leaflets in through their door did not seek them, If a person comes onto Escort Ireland to look for a lady then they are seeking this information but the residents who received this information did not seek it.

These are just the pieces of legislation I know off the top of my head, I have studied law Airbusdriver, I can see you have not.

Like any good doctor would know a wide range of illnesses or medicines, I need a good solicitor will know of even more laws and I have mentioned here which the perpetrator in this case has committed.
