The law that makes paying for sexual services a crime in Northern Ireland has led to just one conviction since 2015, new figures show.

There have been calls for a review of the legislation, which was brought in to tackle human trafficking.

The architect of the law, Lord Morrow of the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP), has called for it to be reviewed, including how it is enforced by police.

R.I.P Laura Lee

A legal battle over Northern Ireland's prostitution laws is to end with the death of a sex worker who took the case, it emerged on Thursday.
Laura Lee's challenge to legislation which criminalized her clients was formally withdrawn at the High Court in Belfast.

Mr Justice McCloskey said: "In light of the regrettable demise of the applicant, and by consent, the court will order a dismissal of the judicial review."

Widely recognized as, not only a stupid law, but an unenforceable law, both by the police and the courts with neither having any interest in it.

If anything this law has aided trafficers
with clients who might suspect a girl needs their help walking away in fear of prosecution

Some might say contact the police anonymously but I'm sure many who have their phone numbers connected to girls quite possibly with texts inquiring about meeting
would have fear of getting involved

I've never found myself in this position
and I really hope if I did I would have the strength to contact the police
