    A brilliant and very successful Irish entrepreneur who provides a lot of employment. You are not obliged to visit his outlets. There's loads of places to buy your chips.

    This gentleman is said to be worth 300 million.

    Yet as far as I know there is no profit sharing with his employees.

    His restaurants are not unionized.

    Many of his workers would have to clean piss, shit, vomit and worse in the toilets of his establishments at 3am on a Saturday and Sunday Morning as part of their jobs!

    During the pandemic, he slammed the covid payment €300 per week for workers who couldn't work during it.

    He described them as like little lotto winners, yet he's worth a million times that weekly payment!

    Worryingly, a prominent Galway Politician was saying the same and she represents a Galway Constituency which is probably in the poorest 5 in the entire country!
    Ride them on the beaches!

    Leaving Supermac aside.

    Employers in The BMW Region are not noted for being great!

    I know somebody who was prominent in bringing a multinational to a West of Ireland Town in the late 1990s.

    This was at a stage when there was no minimum wage and people would be working for £2 an hour, just above the dole level and would lose their medical card and any rent subsidy on taking up employment.

    The word got around this new factory would be a huge game changer in terms of workers' pay and conditions in the area.

    Accordingly, all the locals wee applying for jobs here.

    About 6-8 weeks before kickoff my friend, who lived in the local area, heard a knock on his door of an evening.

    He was a bit gobsmacked on answering, about a dozen of the great and the good in the local area were outside requesting to come in to speak to him.

    Essentially, the local sleemheen business class and a few fuckdawg politicians!

    They felt overcome by the need to explain to him that there was a way business was done in those parts (use and abuse of workers to the last!) and he will not be doing anything different!
    Ride them on the beaches!

    1- Well done to him for taking a risk with starting up a business;
    2- fast food outlets not known for their profit sharing ethos;
    3-Didn't know that - are they blocked? or is it just a load of college kids and teenagers have no interest in being in a union?
    4 -part of the job and its a reflection on the people going in, not Pat McD;
    5 - saw it myself in several places, why work when you had the same or more for sitting on your ass. In many ways entirely logical but caused chaos for small businesses with part-time staff;
    6 - jealous much?
    7 - She will have to face her constituents this year, but why blame Pat McD for something someone else says?

    I'm afraid your post comes across a begrudging rather than anything else, and at least he's not a tax exile unlike many is his position.

    That's a real begrudging post. That franchise is compliant with the all rules and regulations of employment and of food standards.I have no idea why you threw in about cleaning piss at 3 am. It's not a nice job but every pub in Ireland has to do it, and hospitals, nursing homes,sometimes cafes, not forgetting every other chipper so it's not just the people who go to his establishment that have problems with their urine . I won't even bother getting into your second post because it pure ridiculous

    How is the second post ridiculous?

    You obviously don't live in the West of Ireland and have no clue about what people who live here have to face from gobshytes of employers and scumbag politicians!

    The memory of 1913 is embedded in Dublin Workers and correctly so and this leads to a much less tolerance of shit!

    Re the cleaning task, my point is - no profit sharing, mostly minimum wage and no union and still having to do this task?????

    The BMW Region is so bad, you can actually end up being prevailed on to do a 50K a year job for 20K!
    Ride them on the beaches!
