    Default Regret

I was reminiscing of an old friend from here tonight. Sadly he's no longer with us. Some of you will know who I'm speaking about, he never needed an introduction; most of you won't - let's just keep him anonymous anyway to be respectful.

I can't explain it, but he genuinely felt like a brother? We just got on so well. Perfect blend of madness and hilarity. I was thinking of him tonight. All the laughs we shared on here. The best times. I remember when I was on here every night, nearly making 100 posts each night. The craic we'd have, at each other's expense and the expense of other's - normally one in particular -> ".:" there's your hint as to said identity of our 'victim'. But he gave as good as he got too! Still pops in here on the rare occasion. I was to "marry his daughter" at one stage. Haha.

God the craic was might back then. Not just us three, but others as well. So many nights, tears would be flowing down my face as if they were waterfalls.

Then my smile faded. As I remembered that I never got to meet him in person. I had the opportunity once or twice, but I was a lot more secretive back then and chickened out of it.

There are a lot of things in life, decisions we make that we regret. I perhaps have more than my fair share. But without question my greatest regret was not meeting him. I remember when I found out he had passed- it crushed me, as insane as that seems. Two strangers on an online forum, and we shared a bond. We just 'got' each other, ya know? And yet if we passed one another on the street, we wouldn't even know.

Well. RIP bud. World's always seemed a darker place since you've been gone.

So don't be afraid to take risks in life. Pursuing relationships, passions, whatever. Life's too short for regrets, and I've got a mountain's worth. Life is for living. So live it how you want, how you see fit. Don't let anyone get in your way or tell you what to do. Freedom is the greatest treasure we have, something so many in today's world take for granted. Remember it, be grateful for it. There are plenty who have no idea what it even is. So don't waste your life. And live it to the fullest. Before it becomes too late.

Very well written post. Fair play to you. Very poignant too this time of year when we think of loved ones passed.
