I agree with Ber, El Gordo, et al - every time a journalist has come on the boards requesting sources for an upcoming article, that article has been wholly negative towards both escorts and punters.

Thanks for your replies. This is a specific feature on escort addiction, not an expose of the escort industry. If I was writing a feature on gambling addiction, I would like to speak to somebody who has gambled away their gaf, and not somebody who has a 30 cent Lucky 15 after mass every Sunday. "Sex addiction"? yes.
On that basis, the availability of "free sex" nowadays by like minded female "addicts" is
enough to sate all.
The supposed "addiction" you suggest has not, in my knowledge, ever arrisen for discussion
on this forum where the most frank of topics are debated.
Enquire to the Samaritans ,to see if they have helped with such.
I would ,as others here, be interested to know if you at present have evidence that
"Escort addiction " exists .
My estimation is, that the most frequent Escort users are the guys who can readily afford
to anyway.
Those who possibly might develop the urge to require more than average sexual relief
would surely resort to wanking before suffering a state of financial destitution.

In complete agreement with you capt.pugwash, the addiction is one to sex, sexual variety or a particular type of sexual activity rather than to escorts per se. Frequenting escorts is simply one, amongst a number of methods of satisfying ones sexual addiction. In addition, addiction can only be used to describe those who would like to stop frequenting escorts, but can't and who's lives are being affected by their uncontrollable habit.

Therefore, I have to conclude, that this article will be written with a negative slant vis a vis the sexual services business. Maybe some fine day, a journo will see fit to write an article on how escorts provide a much needed service in the community.....for how many "lonely" men out there is escorting the only opportunity for intimate physical expression with another person and how does this physical release benefit their mental health......or how many men remain in unfulfilled marriages because they can have certain physical needs met in an unattached and unencumbered fashion elsewhere.

Given the rubbish that the Independent Newspapers Group has printed on this topic in the past, I do not propose to assist in boosting the circulation of Sir Dr AJF O'Reilly's newspaper stable.

i'll like to agree with much criticism that went before. Unfortunately the lack of imagination and intelligence in irish media by so called journalists is a direct consequence of the O'Reilly grand strategy.
A low cost business as O'Reilly has stated media is on its corporate group website means aside from the outsourcing of functions but also the outsourcing of quality from his products. Credit to him for holding onto titles like the Independent in London but this is merely for a semblance of respectability.

Unfortunately this proposal is representative of a lack of intelligence and originality and lacks the fearless questioning the given mould, of the established and the establishment.
At best the term journalist here has been hijacked by yet another so-called features writer. If anyone should be in the dock it should be the second-class feature writers who abuse the language by calling themselves journalists.

This is true, at least in my experience. It could also make a good article. Many escorts either had very interesting jobs before going into it or are studying to have them after retiring. Not everyone certainly, but on average I would say escorts are definitely more intelligent than the general population. As for us punters, well...
