The article could turn out that way. It wouldn't surprise me, but we don't actually know that. It's possible to write an article about alcoholism without implying that alcohol is evil and should be banned. There are people who are addicted to escorts, who would like to stop, but can't, same as with drink.

For the same reason people don't write articles about those of us who drink in moderation. Because it would bore the readers.

“I wish you wouldn’t keep appearing and vanishing so suddenly; you make one quite giddy!”
“All right,” said the Cat; and this time it vanished quite slowly, beginning with the end of the tail, and ending with the grin, which remained some time after the rest of it had gone.

All interviews are strictly anonymous and can be done by email. Please PM me for more details

    Ta, Katie
the rise of escort addiction How does one define an addiction ? Is it paying for sex once a week- year etc. It already sounds like the article may have an inherent prejudice. I hope this isn't the case here.

Most punters punt every now and again - They dont go spare if they dont get their ''fix''- addiction is more likely to be found amongst drinkers and smokers I imagine.

Interfering ? This can be summed up quite easily - It does not. And I'm sure this goes for the vast majority of punters.

How many words has your editor requested. Do me a favor- Ask your fellow male journos how many of them have bought sex. Take particular note of the answers of the lads that regularly go on overnight 'assignment'

All things are done for one of two reasons- because we want to or because we have to. I'm in the want team.

Alec, I think the second bit that you've highlighted in bold may be the answer to your first question.

How does one define an addiction? When it's interfering with their day-to-day life: work, relationships, finances, etc.

By that definition I'm not addicted, thankfully, but I think there are people on E-I who would fit that definition. I don't have a problem with writing about addiction, as long as the article doesn't claim that we are all addicts.

thats exactly my fear El G- that all will be tarred with the same brush.

Hopefully then it will stay within its specific remit - i.e. an article about addiction to escorts rather than a general analysis of the world of escorting itself.

thats actually a very good point.Well im as amazed as you are.I would define addiction as being unable to stop something if or whenever you want to.In other words your the boss not the activity.

    Default Hi Patricia

I've no problem with young miss Katie trying to solicit (pardon the pun) interviews with E-I users here but why did she have to phrase her spiel in such negative terms?? Why not just canvass for honest candid interviews and see what turns up?? Why announce that agenda or editorial slant??

Yo Katie, get in touch with me if ya want, I'll try answer your questions but don't be expecting an exclsusively negative story (even handed I would say)

Btw Patricia I think you are tops! and I agree with you that TV add with the Dad askin his daughter should he dye his hair for job interview is just plain wrong

Im quite sure this story has already been written and the use of these"anonymouss sources"
and the apparent attempt to research the story is just a way of adding extra credence or weight
to it. ffs we could all write what shes going to produce from our seats without ever moving or
doing one bit of research. It will be just worded differently to what is a rehashed story used at
least twice a year or so by all the main newspapers. Its only a couple of months ago since the examiner did a so called 3 day expose on escorting, there wasnt one new fact in the whole article,
i could have written it, and u have the obligatary pic of a prostitute leaning in the window of a car
just shows how they want sensationalism not accuracy, as the article was about escorting not street prostitution. u will see how these stories are not researched as the most basic information such as
rates is regularly misquoted so dont expect fair play or accruacy as those are not what sells papers
    Blatant promotion should be outlawed
    but
