    Default Rugby

Ok, anyone who knows me knows I’m a total GAA head, I know nothing about rugby (Apart from the fact that Tommy Bowe Might possibly be the most beautiful man on Earth )

But I’m going to jump on the bandwagon this evening, Ireland are playing the All Blacks, right? Is it a final? Am I right in saying that the All Blacks are one of the best teams in the world? Hit me up with some info so I have Some sort of clue as to what’s going on! Thanks guys!

    It's a sport I dont know a lot about...BUT..
The forwards are backs and the backs are forwards.Offside is onside and onside is offside. Its a Quarter Final. Its a Ruffians game played by gentlemen. But I will say..I just hope they beat this crowd. Not very good losers. Enjoy though.

It's only a quarter final, and the All Blacks are the king pins of the oval ball . We have beaten them before but not when there is something at stake like now...... In other words we beat them in the equivalent of the FBD or O Byrne cup if you want to compare it to GAA . Also we have never passed the quarter final stages before. Tune into the haka, their tribal routine before they go into battle. Learn that off and add it to your favourites as role play before the main event. Enjoy.

The rugby WC quarterfinal fixture for Ireland has proved a huge bogey fixture for them.

They've been in 7 I think, and lost all of them.

Tonight is the chance to see if the number 1 seeded team can overcome what might be a huge mental hurdle and finally progress to the semis of a WC

    Not the easiest of games

Jenny, Rugby is a beautiful game. You most likely already know the basics but all you need to understand is anything forward has to be carried.

you can kick forward and get the ball out of your half, it’s too risky to run into contact when your close to your own try line (fuck the ball into there half and meet the player catching there but your giving away possession)

They can’t pass forward. To break the Gain Line, you have to carry into collisions, recycle the ball out and run into another collision or get out to the backs and run some skill passes to reach the wing to get around. If the wing is manned then gaps can open through the centre.
-The Gain Line is the place the tackle happens, so with each “Phase” it’s good to break this line each time.
If you go to the winger too often the gap between the two sides is too close and it easy to lose yards with good line pressure.
Like I said everything to progress down the pitch has to be carried in possession. As a GAA Girl you’re well acquainted with heavy collisions. Enjoy the game tonight.
