Really excellent summary there. I've bounced through Bangkok and Pattaya for many years en route to Japan, Australia etc. Usually for 5 days at a time. Just back from Pattaya for first time since covid and it was a great trip. Much the same price as before.

Don't discount picking up locals in Thai bars and nightclubs. I don't really understand why this works as I don't get any looks at home. I'm late 40s early 50s. Quite grey but in reasonable shape. I've literally had my pick of absolute stunners who took care of me for an entire trip for nothing! Maybe just keep them stocked with drinks. Call BS if you want but give it a go first. Especially in Bankok.

Downside of this is you become quite attached and tears in the lobby as you wait for taxi to airport. But my God some of the memories I'll take to the grave.

Agree completely with the advice to be as polite and smile as much as possible. Learn some of the customs and language and it will go a long way to making a memorable trip. I've loved every minute I've spent in Thailand. Wonderful people and country.

You can go there now and get free sex from escorts and ladyboys,
I spent a fortune before I copped on to this but there are just too many tourists now and even going to the bars it's all old British guys often outnumbering the girls so I stay clear of these places and have a plan drawn up before I land there and girls waiting.

Even in England here there not many true thai ladies advertising but try to do your homework before going to Thailand and Thailand ain't the best place in Asia to go to now as it's so saturated and every tom dick and harry tourist there now, so too many tourists and so not the cheapest anymore a
Vietnam and the Philippines are so much better places to visit.

Yes, as you mentioned too, you can pick up quite easily in discos & nightclubs. In the more touristy areas it might be a "freelancer" & she will want money. Often girls with normal days jobs, will do a bit of freelancing on the side for extra income, & sometimes the fee is disguised as "give me money for shopping" or a gift. So perhaps a softer form of P4P. And of course as NickC69 says, you can often get it for free if you are reasonable looking, dress well, polite etc, & nothing more than buying them drinks & food.

Yes, it is so so easy to get attached to girls over there, even after a couple of days in their company. The commercial ones, to me 90% of the time, just the way they are, it does not feel like a paid for service, as the human connect goes much closer, they usually don't have the normal escort barriers up, very affectionate, & they are one hundred times more fun than an escort in the Western world, and of course the freebies even more so obviously. Indeed, I have had that heart broken goodbye feeling many a time, & then back to dull life in Ireland feeling down for weeks after my return from Thailand whilst still having the best time of my life over there. There really is no comparison IMHO.

I'd even go as far as saying, don't bother punting here, save all your money & if you are free to do so, use the saved money to go over to Thailand 2 - 3 times a year & let loose over there. I know a good few lads who do that & have a wonderful time.

The is very true going to discos & nightclubs in the tourist areas like Walking Street in Pattaya or Nana area in BKK. Yes I know the profile of old British guy you mean lol.

Of course there is also the option to go to a real Thai disco, which usually means going a bit further away from the main tourist areas. Thai discos are amazing fun & usually a mix of a DJ set, then a band comes on with a performer & sexy dancers, & sometimes a drag queen, then after DJ back on for 45 minutes, & it revolves like that through out the night. Hollywood in Pattaya is a good example of this, but you'll still get a few Westerners in there, but not many usually & other big discos a bit further out that the locals go to. Only problem I have with Thai discos is the music is blasted at deafening ear aching volume, & they tend to go on until all hours of the morning. There is other venues with bands etc with locals which are a bit more laid back & I prefer these days.

It does take a little more courage to go to a Thai disco if one is a newbie & alone, but really there is nothing to be scared of, & you can have a great night, & minimal competition from other Westerners.

I've been to these Thai venues up country too where I was the only westerner there & they certainly made for very different fun nights.

Couldn't agree more. In Bangkok I spent time in Nana Plaza and Soi Cowboy but much preferred initially picking up Freelancers in Nightclubs or Thermae Cafe. (Got to visit this place either way). Freelancers in Nightclubs are fairly upfront on money. I later met a lady in one of the Nightclubs with a pretty decent day job. Thought it too awkward to ask and it never came up. Still in contact with this lady. Had similar happen again in Bangkok and once in Pattaya. But as you say best to get out of tourist areas. I try this first now and can always go for Freelancer if no luck.

With some Freelancers I went short time but they stayed long time for same price. Even met following nights for short time price. The attachment issue is a big problem if you don't want to change your circumstances at home. It gets worse for me each time. The first few weeks are hard after a trip as you say and I'm still going through it.

I've been on one trip to Philippines and lady wise it was great. I don't think as good as Thailand but my main issue is I never felt safe there. Saw a trans individual beat the crap out of a bloke in the middle of the street early evening. Security guards at the mall entrance with pump action shotguns! Poverty is much more obvious. Having said that Philippino people are lovely and don't regret going. Vietnam is amazing. I've only been to Hanoi and can't wait to go back. I didn't do anything lady wise when there, but was approached by a few Freelancers on beer street. Hear Ho Chi Min is better for Ladys.

All things considered for me you can't go wrong with Thailand. If you can take the attachment problem!
