We're sorted so, its an anomaly of history as regards AD 0 but more practical to call it first year of next decade. Lets face it, who would have felt right celebrating the millennium at the end of 2000?

Wonder what posters chiseling on a slab of rock in AD 0 had to say about it.

    Default Well then......

With regards to AD and BC, why then is Janurary 1st the epoch and not the 25th of December, or good Friday???

    A bit lunar I'd say........

Yes, we lived all ~365 days of them and they were still all part of the decade of the previous 9 years.

There's no "practical" about it and it doesn't make more sense or anything like that. It's just YOU psychologically. If you want to argue that you cannot deal with the immense complexity of it, then you'd be arguing for a change of calender or the definition of decade.

Carlos' post was the definitive answer. Don't give up the dayjob to become a mathematician.

I was only replying to West saying that 0 did not have a value. It does or else we would all be wasting 365 days every time we reach the end of a decade, or start of one depending on pov.

Don't you give up the day job with the rape crisis center.

Technically that is right however if you follow it through you end up with 2030 being in the 20s and 2040 being in the 30s.
So by convention 00 to 09 is the first decade and 10 to 19 is the second etc as it makes more sense that way. And as none of us were around in the first decade 1 AD to 9 AD none of us missed out on a year.
