Max Verstappen not a good start but holds on.
Hectic start. Safety car already. Lewis Hamilton and Sergio Perez come together. Sergio Perez needs new front wing. Valtteri Bottas also got damage and needs front wing. Debris on track.
Quite a few have picked up damage but everyone still running.

Racing again. Fernando Alonso started tenth, up to fifth.

Valtteri Bottas is the first retirement. Logan Sargeant gets five-second penalty for his contact with him.

Sergio Perez penalty gets same for safety-car infringement when leaving pits. Seems harsh.

Sergio Perez collides with Kevin Magnussen. Sergio Perez's fault. Another penalty?

Sergio Perez's Red Bull has taken some knocks and has damage.

Max Verstappen pits. Medium tyres. Out in third.

Sergio Perez retires. Only one Red Bull running now.

Even with only one car running, Red Bull likely to clinch the Team Championship today.
With Sergio Perez not getting any points today, Max Verstappen almost guaranteed to clinch driver's championship the next race, the Qatar Grand Prix, on 8 October.

    Race of attrition.
Both Williams retired. Track rough on cars and tyres.
George Russell going for a one-stop. Seemed the fastest of the Mercedes but their strategy has disadvantaged him.

Sergio Perez, even though he has "retired", still needs to serve a penalty. This will carry forward to the next race if he does not serve it now, so he is likely to go out and serve it now.
