This actually confuses the issue, as the purpose of signatures is not that they should be used as fully blown advertisements. There are a number of advertising forums for that specific purpose i.e. for escort advertisers (and non advertising escorts with some restrictions) to post their advertising threads so that they can draw attention to their advert profile, upcoming tours, change of location, special offers etc, etc. It is an advertising space which should be used solely for that purpose and not be cluttered up with idle chit chat ,comedy, requests, warnings, piss artistry or the slagging off that can often occur on other forums.

Equally General Chat, Client Requests, Warnings, and Soap Opera all serve their own purposes, but what they are not intended for, is for advertising. If I am a client who wants to see who is doing special offers, I'm going to go to the advertising forums, but if I'm somebody who wants to take part in a debate on what could be a serious or interesting topic, or a joke thread or even "Drop one, Keep One", I'm going to go to General Chat, and I'm sure that many regular users will agree, that there is nothing as annoying as trying to follow the flow of a thread with all the turns and tangents that they go off in, without the additional distraction of one line posts followed by massive signatures.

I think that those escorts (even those with very nice, neat and artistic signatures) who are complaining that they should be allowed use whatever signature they wish, as their signature reflects their personality etc, or because they are paying customers of E-I, are also missing the point to some extent. Nobody pays E-I to be able to use a signature, and nobody pays E-I to post an advertisement in one of the advertising forms, what's paid for is the advertising profile to be displayed on the site for whatever period of time.

Two trends have emerged over the past year. One has been the use of signatures to insult or have a go at some members and in many cases large pictures have been included for this purpose. Needless to say, escorts were not involved in this. However, the second trend certainly does involve escorts, and it is a trend which has seen signatures getting larger and starting to contain more and more information, such as tour dates, working hours, prices, services provided, review quotes etc, so that they are now starting to take on the size, appearance etc of advertisements. I don't believe it was ever the intention of E-I to allow pseudo-advertising throughout the site, but this seems to be the direction that things were heading in.

Quite simply put, signatures are not advertisements (paid for or free). The links that are now in place beside escorts' avatars, mean that anybody who is interested can link simply and quickly to an escort's advert profile or reviews.

Finally, to conclude this Quarterpoundheresque post, writing as both a member and as a community moderator, if escort's can be safe in the knowledge that interference with their advertising threads will not be tolerated, that nobody will be allowed attack or complain about them, or post any old rubbish on their threads, and that escorts will not be allowed to get their friends to constantly bump up their adverts to the detriment of other escorts, then so too should everybody be allowed to enjoy the advertising free sections of this site, without having their senses assaulted by large signature adverts.

Unless you are advertised you cannot put contact info in your signature

Just to ward off the 'nice' person and for the record

(wasn't working today, have paid for ad this evening, sent message priority contact to upload i for tomorrow)

    I just think it's a personal part of escort info . . .
It says a lot about the person and i feel within moderation(no pun intended)
    shouldn't have to be changed.

I do think the font size button should be limited
    it has been a bit over-worked in some cases . . .

but it's like everything these days, you cannot be seen to 'single out'
so everyone comes under the same rule

    which in this case is unfair . . . . .

    but that's just my opinion

after the slating (unchecked) i got here 2 weeks ago by certain 'banned users'

    well . . . .it's a mans world

If you are referring to the comments posted by Forrest and myself we are not banned users Miss X.
One piece of advice for you.Instead of worrying about signatures maybe you should be more concerned about taking better care of potential clients which you certainly have not done on several occasions that I am aware of.
(Sorry about this being off topic.)

Now on a scale of importance even after you have followed me around the board, tried to 'damage my business' posting under my ads in the independent section, the moderators removed it and you and still are trying to discredit me here with the dillusion that i am referring to 'you two' when i talk about the 'banned users' (your other board buddies). . .

You two (you and forrest) don't even register on my scale of importance. . . .

sorry to burst your bubble or self assured importance/arrogance . . .
try ruining someone else here, to your dismay

Bottom line is Patricia said sigs are there to "express" yourself, not "sell" yourself so stating services, rates, locations etc is not "expressing" yourself in the exact meaning of the term and there is just no getting away from that fact.

MissX, you are even worse than Anna23.

You go around insulting people for no reason at all.
You talk about it being a man's world and people trying to "damage my business" when you don't get what you want.
NOBODY agrees with you that sig size shouldn't be limited. Even yourself from yesterday when you said there should be size restrictions.
You have delusions of people going around and stalking you and being unfair just to you.
You throw in a few smilies and expect that that makes it all okay.

Ok folks, I have listened to you and I would like to propose a comprimise and ask that we try this.

Instead of saying no pics, you will be allowed 1 pic, but it is 1 pic only and it must be a maximum of 100 x 100 pixels in size (avatar size). Also instead of saying 5 lines of text max 450 characters (900 including bbcode), I'll say 6 lines of text max 540 characters (1080 including bbcode). The max letter size of 3 restriction still applies.

I really think we do need to put some limits in place regards signatures, and it will improve this place if we do that, but I have also tried to listen to those of you who have said you felt the new signature rules were too strict.

Well Patricia that seems like a very fair compromise ,as i presume there will be no
restrictions on what u put in ure sig regards advertising etc once u stay within guidelines
But the most important thing is that it seems we have saved the Cat.
We are all going round to El Gordos gaff tonight to celebrate

Ps I never had a sig till this controversy but now i have added one,all
it be a modest one which strictly adheres to guidlines of course
    Blatant promotion should be outlawed
    but
