I've worked part-time as a doorman at a few places in town, and I can tell you that the constant hassle from them was almost too much sometimes! They even had stategies for distraction and mis-direction; there's one bunch that I'd bet a lot of you have probably seen around the pubs in the Grafton St & South William St. area-- 4 or 4 women, 2 teenage girls, and 2 little girls, one of them about 8, the other about 10-12 years old-- while me and my co-workers were chasing away the others, the little gils slip under the barricade outside and robbed some wallets! We've had mobiles and purses go missing as well, and I can tell you that you as a doorman/bouncer you catch holy hell from the managers when an incident like this happens! But what can be done about it?


Maybe even MORE frustrating is the folks that ACTUALLY GIVE THEM MONEY-- it only encourages them to continue begging/stealing! If they'd get the picture that no one is going to give them money anymore, they'd have to do something else (and that would hopefully be something PRODUCTIVE) to get by. Most of them are Romanian Gypsies, so they're now E.U. members! There's no reason they couldn't try to get a legitimate job, whether it be here or somewhere else in the E.U.
