    What always works for me is either ice packs or deepheat
    pain eventually goes away or if you can get it codine

    Ya I was gonna try and get some difene tomorrow as apparently its quite a good anti-inflammatory but need to be alert enough to study so dunno if the difene will affect that.
    have tried tiger bsalm which is like deep heat,it helped a little but only masked pain i think

    Well anything you take will only mask the pain insteade of cure it.

    well im hoping its an inflammed strain in which case a strong anti inflammatory like Difene will help relieve the inflammation while still allowing the muscle to function normally hence not just masking pain but im not sure what other affects it may have i.e drowsiness etc

    What you need is a nice long soak , relax all the mucsels, difine afterwrds follwed by the tiger balm

    the problem is when a strain like this happens the muscle contracts and stays contracted which is the tightness you feel.The whole idea is to loosen the area while at the time same keeping inflammation down on it with icing while strenghtening the area too.
