Actually a very fair point if it's insurance that's paying for it.

It's the fact that the poor don't get proper.medical care etc is so wrong.

I saw a Tiktok yesterday about an American lady who had to be taken to hospital by ambulance. She lived 47 miles away and the bill just for the ambulance was $2,500 dollars and she has insurance!!! The American health care system is the worst in the world for a developed country.

I digress, my point is that there's absolutely no way the American tax payer will be paying for the rescue mission for those billionaires.

I should clarify above... They should definitely try to rescue them, until it is impossible they could have survived (about 35 hours time).

However, the likelihood is they have already perished. Either there was a flaw in the central pressure chamber and the sub was crushed. In this case it would have shattered, rather than crushed because it was carbon fiber (that is unusual).

Or a seal went. If a seal was breached, it wouldn’t crush because the pressure inside would (very quickly) equalise to the outside, but the pressure would fairly instantly kill everyone, and reduce the size of the air pocket to a tiny space.

If they were conscious, and just sitting there, subs like this have dive weights attached to them that are designed to be easily ejected. This would cause the sub to quite rapidly accend to the surface. It wouldn't be a nice ride, and it would fuck some of the people up, but they would be alive. The fact that it doesn't seem like this happened would suggest that they have met an unfortunate end.

Oh I'm assuming they are wealthy people if they can afford the cost of the submarine dive in the first place.

So if any members of your family go missing I'm sure you are going to tell the relevant authorities that you don't want to spend tens of thousands of euros to find them?.
