Could a church defender not argue that the majority of priests are not child abusers? During one of my rants, I always end up saying that if one child is abused by a priest, then that's one too many and the whole institution needs to be shut down.

Again, a church defender could say that if one girl is trafficed and forced into sex work then that's one too many and the sex trade needs to be shut down entirely.

I suppose a fundamental difference between an institution like escort ireland and the Catholic church is that while EI promotes the benefits of this lifestyle, it doesn't shy away from the nasty side. For example, I always see anti-trafficing ads on this site. For years, the church inisisted that it was a beacon of morality while at the same time it covered up horrible abuse cases. I don't think for one second that the church would haved acknowledeged it's own deplorable failings if pressure didn't come from the outside.
