i can understand completely , where are you based question , most towns and even cities in Ireland are small everyone knows everyone . There is not much point making a booking in advance if it turns out to be on the same street as your nosey aunt who sees everyone passing lives. 100%, that’s really the only acceptable question, I used to ask hotel or apartment, hotel and it’s game on, a maybe if I got a street address for an apartment, only one of two decent ones in Derry

I have long ago realised people are just idiots.
