Thread: What do you do to “pick yourself up” cheer up

  1. Default What do you do to “pick yourself up” cheer up

We all have challenging and difficult days.

What kind of thing knocks you off your stride or upsets you?

It could be a difficult customer, a bad interaction with your boss, employee, partner, stranger or bad news, an unexpected bill or something else that throws you off your stride or stress you.

Do you go to a SP to forget or to celebrate or because you have the urge…?

How do you get back your spirits and energy and how long does it take you?

Do you meditate, go to the gym, bar, meal, visit a SP, meet/speak to a friend, get a massage, watch a film.

Does stress or a bad day ruin your mojo?

Do you look for a distraction or “think about and resolve the problem”

Is there anything you do that’s different from the “usual” things

Most people just fill time anyway they can!!
To put distance between why they feel down and something to make them feel better

I've an extensive catalogue of backing tracks for a big chunk of the music I like on guitar.
When I need a pick-me-up I tend to root around for a track I like that I haven't jammed over before.
I usually go head-to-head with the lead guitarist and pretend his girlfriend is leaking buckets as she watches me destroy her ex with my sick licks.

Don't ever fuck with my again Jimmy Page, I've got your number.

I'm with you... my guitar kept me from going mad throughout the years. It was my way of dealing with stress. I used to write and preform my own stuff. I think guitar can be a form of mindfulness. There is a point where you get lost in the music. Been giving it some Hendrix Foxy Lady and Cream lately. This is starting to sound like an escort post lol. I was putting together an old Les Paul copy tonight and enjoying working von it. I have also been pimping out my Gretsch guitars with upgraded Chrome hardware and getting new tuners for them. Two of them need a set up.

I used to do a lot of woodwork in the past and make stuff. It was all about being slow, taking time and being precise. I am a bit of a perfectionist. I enjoy a good tinker.

    Absolutely man.
You get sucked in deep with the rhythm and you get lost in the shifting forms but there's something primordial and visceral that still guides you.
Like Jaques in The Big Blue.
It's hard to come back from all that to all this.

Ooh ... sounds like you're also a gearhead.
Have you tried any of those Gretsch resonators?
    Alligator looks very nice.
