Infected Chinese people on the world : without any checks and balances ,

no screening , no restrictions — while they’re carrying an as yet uncertain variant ?


Would you not think that reinstating travel ban from China would be warranted ?

Or at the very least PCR testing required for their travel ??

Italy have introduced testing all Chinese arrivals after more than half one flight tested positive and given what they went through in Italy last year no surprise really

Our system is at breaking point already so to me be prudent , introduce testing of all chinese arrivals no matter where their flights originate from.

How about just flat out banning them?, do they need visas, if they do then just deny them, withhold landing rights on all China based flights, in other words, play fuckin hard ball

That brings many problems even in worst of Covid it was not done, we need international co operation , as I think did Trump go that way ?

Mitigation is where we will be headed unless EU takes on the task and declares a ban then we are good

Sieve on a leak. I mean, by the time any new variant is detected in China it will already be outside of China. With the way supply chains work in the world, it's simply not possible to keep it inside China and even if you could, how long do you keep those restrictions in place? What criteria do you use to un-isolate 1.4 billion people?

A lot of this stuff sounds sensible and works in theory. The reality is that it's completely ineffective.

And when it's detected in the Philippines the following week, and in San Francisco the week after and Berlin the week after that. What then?
