Only joking, Soul Calibur was my bag.

Never got the whole Final Fantasy thing.
Always seemed a little too Dungeons N' Dragons for my liking.

Older final fantasy was great. New ones are a bit hit and miss.

I dunno bro, that kind of game demands more hours than the average life expectancy.

    It's a game I want, not a wife.

A few people here have mentioned games with episodic intervals of somewhat similar scenarios ( Metal Gear, Metro, FarCry ). All great games in their own right but none of them have that sustained sense of building dread nor that constant sense of questioning your own actions not that general air that nothing is sitting right and you're 'in' deeper than you can comprehend .

That game tore at the heart of me and I want more.
I think that's what the problem with the gaming industry in general, is that many don't want to take risk, break the norm, or try new things, I wished the games industry had the balls to go all out & do something new or more importantly daring that pushes the envelope. There's many games I could list that are good & could maybe scratch that little bit of a itch, but no-where nears close to Spec Ops: The Line sadly.

You nailed it. I watched a Youtube doc/essay on Spec Ops a while back and it hit on those points hard. My takeaway was that the devs were at the right place at the exact right time for the idea they had to cut through the demands that would have crushed a smaller dev team.

That gives me zero hope for something like it ever happening again

    This might be the doc/essay ... I've watched a few so can't be 100%

I know that one, I've seen it a few times, Raycevick does pretty good vids that covers the years later series, plus other vids that he's done have been pretty good too.

I don't follow his channel (can't remember why ... most likely he dissed a movie I like) but yeah, his content is top notch.
