The best advice is to use a totally different phone rather than putting a new sim in your old phone.

When you text or call A mobile sends out 2 numbers
(1) The id of the SIM
(2) The id of the phone

Even if you change the SIM, a quick search through the Databases of the mobile phone Companies will reveal who the phone is registered to by the Phones ID.

Best get a second phone for peace of mind.
