    All over.

    Max Verstappen
    Charles Lecerc
    Sergio Perez

Drama between Charles Lecerc Sergio Perez. But did Charles Lecerc leave the track and gain an advantage?

    Great race after all.

    More drama!
Five-second time penalty for Charles Leclerc for cutting the chicane.
That means Max Verstappen has now won his second World Championship.

    As usual, there is confusion.

By everyone's calculations he is still one point short but he seems to have been announced as champion. Maybe the shortened race points is the source of confusion.

Seem to be assuming full points will be awarded, but 75% of the 53 laps were not completed. Does not matter really, inevitable he will be champion.

Almost certain he is still one point short, likely to be corrected at some point. Charles Leclerc is confirmed as third, so Max would have needed fastest lap, which he didn't get. Max himself knows he is not champion -- yet. F1 authorities really need to sort themselves out

    But,

Max Verstappen is 2022 world champion. Been confirmed. Obscure rules. Apparently, because the race was resumed, even if 75% was not completed, full points have been awarded.

Worthy winner. I think he is now a better driver than Lewis Hamilton was, even at his best.

Obscure rules. Apparently, because the race was resumed, even if 75% was not completed, full points have been awarded. The reduced points only come in "if a race is suspended in accordance with Article 57, and cannot be resumed". So, they are saying if the race is on and stops before 75%, it is reduced points. If it is suspended and then continues, even if it stops short of 75%, full points are awarded. Very convoluted and confusing, but who are we to criticise the FIA?
    Bottom line; Max 2022 champion.

Nobody expected that. Neither teams, drivers nor commentators.
Red Bull were considering a risky pit for fresh tyres for an unnecessary extra fastest lap point.

Not a question of not knowing or understanding the rules but having to anticipate what someones interpretation of the rules may be. Rather typical of the FIA.

But we know now and have a precedent for the future.

    Question:
If only two laps of the race had been completed, because the race had been resumed, would full points have been awarded?
The answer would appear to be "yes" Full points from two laps?

Congrats to Max and Red Bull. They dominated this year.
