Max Verstappen looked like he had an easy pole but had to abort and pit. There was a risk he didn't have enough fuel for scrutineering and so his team played it safe. A scrutineering failure would have put him last.

Heavy rain and lightning. Race delayed by at least one hour. Possible start 14:05. Difficult track as it is, wet race will make it more difficult and a lot of incidents.

20% risk of rain. it is likely to be a dry So when the track dries it is like to be a dry
Start on intermediates and then slicks. That could be the only tyre change. Timing crucial. Tyre change under safety car would be ideal. And there is likely to be one.
Max Verstappen really does not to win here. Damage limitation. He can take it next weekend at Japan.

Zhou Guanyu and Nicholas Latifi collide.
Zhou Guanyu out. Puncture and suspension damage.
Safety car! Not really late enough at lap 8 to pit for tyres.
Nicholas Latifi limps back to the pits but he has retired too. Too much damage.
