I was in Cuba 5 or 6 times in the early to mid naughties. HIV was not a problem back then and I doubt very much that it is today. Any girl you hook up with will expect you to use a condom. It is possible to successfully proposition pretty girls in every niteclub, hotel lobby and even non-professionals on the street. They are all looking for hard currency to buy Western goods. It is better to stay in a casa particulare if you want to bring a girl back to your room because if staying in a hotel you'll have to bribe the security man and the doorman and they might only let the girl stay for 30 minutes or an hour at the most.

There is no big HIV problem in Cuba. It's a tiny percentage of the sexually active population. Like anywhere else take precautions. Don't take every piece of advice you get on the internet as gospel.
