I'd prefer if you had the balls to live up to the concept of true solidarity but I don't see that happening so work away and change it if you wish.

Maybe one with a knife in the back as you never said a word in defense of your fellow mod when he was de modded so I guess you know the facts of all that...

Whether the mods have the banning powers or not, there will still be trolls. Noone has offered any solution for this so far.
So what i'm missing is the option which will solve something, like 'chop their hands of' for instance.

As you are not a proven troll like the original creator of this poll (which I find ironic) I will reply.

There is no panacea for this particular ill... none whatsoever, all that can be done is ban, edit and protect those targeted as best we can.

One big thing that could be done is entire forum agree never to respond to these trolls and just ignore them as they seek a reaction. That would be a big step forward but mods cannot do that, only all agreeing to ignore them completely has any chance of combating this.

Ok back to the actual debate.

BBJ yoiu know from your time here that we can only use what is available to us. Banning is obviously only a last resort, and if some one is sad enough to keep posting offensive comments after already being banned by setting up new profiles we will keep banning them. Most people on this site are here for a laugh and sa chat and are no bother but as usuasl there is always some clown who thinks he is funny who starts off.

theres been a few suggestions on this thread ie an extension of the maggot system suggested by dolly and a restriction of user permissions for the first 5 or so posts by nbt


both these things can be easily done in the admin control panel of this forum, 5 mins is all they would take.

what are the your and the other mods thoughts on this? if it was available would you try it?

Yes, that is a solution, although bit less fun as there will be no chopping
The problem is, that the forum ( and the world in general) is full of ejits who will always reply and the truth is that people do like bitching and gossip etc.
So the only thing that can be done is take it or let be. Either you will engage in this, or you will consider it not good enough for you. This is the way it is and there is no doable solution.

Sorry, didnt read properly (thought it just some bitching thread).
So fair enough, if there are these tools, why not use them ( after considering pros and cons). Banning itself obviously doesnt solve much.
I'm not exactly sure what maggot means but if it is something like labeling trolls with a 'local fool' mark, so noone will take them seriously anymore, then i think it is a good idea ( because I had this idea in my head as well )
