So fair enough, if there are these tools, why not use them ( after considering pros and cons). Banning itself obviously doesnt solve much.
I'm not exactly sure what maggot means but if it is something like labeling trolls with a 'local fool' mark, so noone will take them seriously anymore, then i think it is a good idea ( because I had this idea in my head as well )
Maggoting was the practise of restricting people who broke the rules to the soap opera section.

I like the "local fool" idea.

Maybe one with a knife in the back as you never said a word in defense of your fellow mod when he was de modded so I guess you know the facts of all that...

To think that you two sorry individuals at one time both sat in judgment of your peers when one has been shown to be untrustworthy and the other refused to come out and defend the citadel on which you stand and condemn him....
Not that it's any of your business but bbj is perfectly happy with how nbt behaved at that time and at the end of the day that is more important to nbt and bbj rather than how you view the events.

But wouldnt the magoting idea be the same as banning. You get around it by creating a new profile again.

that can happen easy enough too dooz, but if you combine it with restricted posted permissions for a couple of posts for noobs.

and put an introduction sticky in soap opera that a noob has to post in, that way a few posts of hellos or whatever shows what theyre like.

The difference is, that they wouldnt have to create a new profile as they will be still able to post, only they would be labeled with some kind of warning like: careful this person is full of bs ( tries to destroy someones reputetion, posts personal info etc. ) and we strongly advice you to not reply to him/her.
The person can then choose if he wants to live with this label and be proud of it, as thats what he'll be doing anyway. Its only that people will see, what hes up to without reading all his posts.
But yes, it wont prevent them from setting new account if they want, for this would be other tools needed.

But that could/would deter perspective genuine new posters from posting .

True Anna but sometimes even if there is a warning next to a profiles name saying that they are full of BS the damage could be done.

Ie Threaths, giving out personal info, damaging reputations etc

Because being restricted in posting some people may not bother if they cant post staright away. Some people may not like to have to wait until they approved.

    As I said maybe
