Default VRT for hybrid/electric car vs petrol/diesel car

    Hi guys,
Is it true that a electric/hybrid car imported from North in South will be cheaper VRT wise then a petrol/diesel car? Anybody had a experience regarding this matter ?

BY curiosity I calculated the VRT using the VRT calculator on ROS for a hybrid car and for a very similar model same year etc et but petro and came up a very big difference. 1800 euro vs 8500. euro

Was it just a matter of conincidence to be this big diffeence or is it indeed VRT much cheaper for electric/hybrid cars comparing with diesel/petro?

Yeah its €5k less for an EV if it costs less than €40K AFAIK

But it won't last forever, there was a garage in Killdare just selling imported EVs from the UK, but Brexit and currency fluctuations put them out of business

BTW I would buy an EV unless you can plug it in where you park it each night, unless its a long range Tesla
