If you eat a lot of meat , eggs or cauliflower , then you will have very smelly farts . These foods are rich in sulphur which is notorious for producing smelly farts . Sulphides and mercaptins are produced in your gut in large amounts when these foods are consumed . Also smokers and people who chew their food with open mouths are prone to smelly farts , mainly due to swallowing more oxygen . And when you fly , the low pressure of the airplane cabin can make the gas inside you expand and cause terrible flatulance , or in my case trapped wind , which is seriously uncomfortable . On a recent trip back from the states , i suffered terrible from trapped wind , but once i got into my car the pressure was finally released , i sat there and farted for longer than i ever farted in my life !
